Walter Cronkite Dead At 92

Walter Cronkite, the legendary TV news anchor once known as the "most trusted man in America," has died at the age of 92. Cronkite anchored the CBS Evening News from 1962 to 1981 with his trademark sign-off, "And that's the way it is..."

His legacy will be one of the great legacies of great Americans. It sounds overstated, but it isn’t.

Your drawing of Walter Cronkite captures him better than any others I've seen. I so very much appreciate you agreeing to let me use it in a post at my blog on July 23, the date of his private funeral.

I like NewsArtBlog and am adding it to my blogroll.

Do you know of the political cartoonist Homer Davenport? He is a native son to the town I've called home since 1985. Each summer the community has Homer Davenport Days, a week-end long celebration. There is a cartoon contest, with entries sent from around the world. We enjoy touring his boyhood farm just outside of town, where a descendant still lives and is kind enough to open the house during that time each year. Many of his drawings can be seen there.
