JIM MEEHAN: HIS PERSONAL FAVORITES

As anybody who has been to art school
knows, illustration is the bastard child of the
art world. I think that's ironic because I think
to be a great illustrator is to be able to take
something which is not your own and
somehow make it your own, make it look
good, add to the piece, and do it on a deadline.
That's as difficult as it sounds; I don't think
I've ever quite done it myself.

MARGARET SCOTT: HER PERSONAL FAVORITES

"I love to draw. Why it's such a joy is one
of the major mysteries of my life. I don't
understand it, but I'm grateful for it. For
me, drawing is a spiritual quest -- a way
to take a stab at illustrating everything
that is complex and contradictory about
our world, and existence in general."
